The All New Scout Skiff - A Direct Comparison - #2.

Here is the second in a series of posts on the all new Scout Skiff. I would suggest skipping down to Manifesto #1 and reading these in order.

Now that we understand that the Scout Skiff is Towee's new value packed simple skiff, let's answer the question thats on everyone's mind - exactly what is different and what has stayed the same. here we go...

The concept and design of the new Scout Skiff is essentially the same as all Towees. This includes;

• The same basic version of the original Rivermaster hull design and the stability, shallow draft, dry ride and bigger water performance that go with it.

• True crossover capability from the rivers to the flats to the marsh.

• The original Towee interior layout with deep rod stroage.

• Ample flotation foam placed correctly (not in the floor).

• A solid Coosa cored transom - not styrofoam core, honeycomb panel, balsa wood or any of the other of the cheaper methods out there.

• 100% stainless fasteners

• The Towee bow cap - often imitated but never duplicated.

So what has changed;

• The hull material is a more traditional fiberglass lamination that is hand laid AND hand rolled (no chopper guns) to ensure durability and keep weight down. Traditional gelcoats are used. Its not quite as light and tough as the Towee Calusa lamination but it is way better than anything else available.

• The ridiculously strong, 4 stroke jet capable transom of the Calusa Pro has been replaced with a lighter yet still super strong Coosa cored transom rated for 20 hp prop and similar outboards. Again, still tougher than anything else on the market.

• The quiet floor of the Calusa Pro is replaced with a simple, rugged, more conventional flat floor.

• Ony 2 color choices are available - Tan and Moss.

• Custom builds are not available.

• The Scout Skiff carries a 5 year warranty against defects in materials and/or workmanship.

In short, the new Towee Scout Skiff represents a significant value in a simple package with performance, quality and capability that has been previously unavailable in this price range.
